4 Ways You Can Celebrate Plastic Free July

4 Ways You Can Celebrate Plastic Free July

Happy Plastic Free July! There’s so many ways to celebrate so we’ve rounded up a few of our favourites to get you started.

1. Use Refillable Products

One of the simplest ways to reduce your overall waste is to use refillable products.

In fact, our community (that’s you!) has diverted over 100,000 plastic bottles from the landfill since our launch in 2018. All thanks to our At-Home Refill Stations

While using refillable products will help you reduce overall waste, it’ll also help you reduce plastic waste, especially when you choose to pour your refills into glass bottles. Not only are they more environmentally friendly than bottles made from plastic, they’re also more durable so they’ll look beautiful on your counter refill after refill.

2. Incorporate Solid Cleaning & Personal Care Products

Refills aside, another incredible way to reduce plastic waste is to avoid it altogether. Solid products like shampoo & conditioner bars, stain sticks, and bar soap are 100% plastic free, packaged only with recyclable paper.

These products also help reduce the environmental burden of shipping because they’re lighter and more compact than liquids, which take a lot of energy to ship around the world.

3. Shop Locally or Ask Brands About How They Package the Products You Order

Speaking of shipping, a lot of plastic is used to pack and ship the products you order online.

One way to avoid this plastic is to shop in-store at your local retailers. You’ll support two local businesses: the retailer and the brands who make the products you purchase!

If in-store shopping isn’t an option, ask the brands you support how they pack and ship your products, and request plastic-free options. Our packaging is completely plastic free: we use recyclable paper and cardboard boxes that can be repurposed around your home to store objects, as craft materials for your kids, or to ship items to loved ones.

4. Make Manageable Plastic Free Swaps

Last but not least, making manageable plastic free swaps will help you reduce your plastic waste. For ideas, follow us on Instagram and check out this list we put together in honour of Earth Month
